Inter Milan: A History of the Crest

Origins and Symbolism

Inter Milan's crest, with its iconic snake and star, is a symbol of the club's rich history and traditions. The snake, a nod to the city of Milan's crest, represents wisdom and shrewdness. The star, added in 1908, symbolizes the club's first Italian championship victory.

The Inter Star

The star signifies Inter's status as champions of Italy, a distinction they have held a record 19 times. The star's design has evolved over the years, but it consistently features a gold outline and is positioned above the snake.

The Snake and the Tricolor

The coiled snake, a symbol of wisdom, is prominently featured in the center of the crest. The snake's body intersects with the club's colors: black and blue. This tricolor, known as the "Biscione," represents the city of Milan and is a common symbol associated with the club.

The Inter Crest Today

The current Inter crest was adopted in 1999 and has remained largely unchanged since then. It features a stylized version of the snake and star, with the club's name "FC Internazionale" written below in black serif font. The crest is circular in shape, contributing to its distinctive and recognizable design.

Tattoo-Worthy Achievement

Inter Milan's historic crest is a source of pride for the club's fans and players alike. While coach Simone Inzaghi may not be rushing to get a tattoo of the crest after recent victories, it remains an enduring symbol of the club's success and legacy.
