USA Freedom Act of 2015
Background and History
The USA Freedom Act was first introduced in both houses of the US Congress in late 2013 but was passed by Congress in 2015 a day after the USA.
Enactment and Significance
The USA Freedom Act was signed into law on June 2, 2015. This law restored and reauthorized parts of the Patriot Act, which had been set to expire. The USA Freedom Act also made significant changes to the way the government collects and uses surveillance data.
